Product Description
Americans are trapped in a dysfunctional financial model that incessantly chants its mantra: "You can have everything you need and anything you want as long as you have enough credit!"

To this way of thinking "I can afford it" really means you have enough income to make the payments and it shouts that just "having" things proves your wealth and worth. This model makes others wealthy at your expense. It makes bad decisions feel good.

This model is called the Debt Paradigm.

Then, when Debt Paradigm decisions dump you into a dungeon of despair, some "credit repair" guy slithers from the shadows to show you a way out of the darkness of debt and back into the "light" of this failed model - so you can do it all over again.

There is a better way. Money for Life!...(thrive) in good times and bad shows you how to take control of the money that flows through your life and lets you look forward with confidence so you never have to look back with regret.

4 out of 5 stars Good book with details for "being your own bank"   June 4, 2010

Good book on using whole life as a financing and savings tool to "be your own bank". It gives you plenty of detail around the use of whole life (with paid up additions riders from a mutual, dividend paying company) as a tool to recapture interest you would otherwise pay to lenders. It also give you plenty of insight on different ways to think about money (than I had at least) and has a bit of a political slant toward tea party mentality. It does try to point you to an advisor from their YouBeTheBank web site, which I'd guess they get a cut of, but there is enough detail in the book to get you on the path to be your own "bank".

Pros:
- Details on the system that other books lack
- Good insight on how to think about money differently

Cons:
- Not enough real life examples
- Tries to get you to use one of their financial advisors
